NHS England and Camden CCG will appoint a new long term provider of GP services at Somers Town Medical Centre.
The decision follows three months of engagement with patients and other local stakeholders on the future of the GP surgery.
The vast majority of respondents to the consultation wanted the GP practice to remain open and for NHS England and Camden CCG to appoint a new long term GP provider.
We listened to this feedback, and considered the needs of local people and expected development in the Somers Town area and took the decision to keep the surgery open.
What happens next?
Haverstock Healthcare, the surgery’s interim GP provider, will continue to run the surgery while a formal process called re-procurement takes place. This process will take nine to twelve months and the GP provider will be appointed for a five to ten year period.
How can Somers Town Medical Centre patients get involved?
NHS England and Camden CCG will ask patients at the surgery for their views on how it will continue. A questionnaire will be sent to all patients and events will be held at the practice to find out what sort of services patients want (for example, Saturday opening or a choice of male or female GPs). All of the comments we have already received will be included in this consultation.
