Statement from Helen Pettersen, Accountable Officer for the North Central London CCGs:
“I am pleased that the robust merger plans we developed working closely with our members, staff and partners were recognised in this decision. The next important step is to undertake a vote of our membership on the constitution for the new organisation, which will run in November 2019.
In line with the NHS Long Term Plan ambitions, forming one CCG for NCL will support the development of our Integrated Care System, to deliver high quality, accessible health and care services for residents, improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities. Importantly, the single CCG will continue to work closely with Councils, providers, GPs, voluntary and community organisations at a borough level – including through the developing local Integrated Care Partnerships.
Moving forward, we will focus on developing detailed CCG merger plans in a range of key areas – including robust future clinical leadership and patient and public engagement models. I am confident that we will remain as strongly accountable to local populations, and responsive to local needs, as we are in our current form.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our members, staff and the numerous stakeholders across NCL that helped the five CCGs to develop our application”.
