Dr Neel Gupta to become the new Chair of Camden Clinical Commissioning Group

Dr Neel Gupta will become the new Chair of Camden Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), taking on the role from Dr Caz Sayer, who finishes her term in July 2017.

Dr Caz Sayer said, “I am delighted that Neel is taking up the role of CCG Chair. Neel has already established himself as a strong and credible clinical leader in Camden, leading on a number of key initiatives and committees as a Governing Body member.

“Neel will bring his broad knowledge of the organisation and local area to the role, and immense personal presence and skill. He is the ideal person to take forward the CCG’s ambitious agenda around improving outcomes for Camden’s residents, and to build new collaborative arrangements across North Central London. I wish Neel every success for the future and am sure he will be well-supported, as I was, by member practices and all our partners”.

On his new appointment, Dr Neel Gupta said, "I am honoured to be succeeding Caz as Camden CCG Chair, and excited about helping to deliver our vision of a high-quality, sustainable health and social care system that meets the needs of all Camden residents. I look forward to working closely with our member practices and all of our wider partners on the challenges ahead."

Neel works as a GP at the Keats Group Practice in Hampstead. As an elected GP on Camden CCG’s Governing Body for three years, Neel has led on primary care commissioning and chaired the Commissioning Committee. Neel has also overseen the introduction of the Care Integrated Digital Record (CIDR), an innovative online record linking patients’ health and social care information.

Prior to being elected to the Governing Body, Neel worked for the CCG as a Clinical Lead for long-term conditions for several years, focusing on improving care for patients with heart failure, hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The Chair appointment will be formally ratified at the 12 July 2017 Governing Body meeting. The election was run in accordance with Camden CCG’s constitution, following a robust and fair process.
