NHS Camden Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has awarded the contract to provide NHS GP services to local people experiencing homelessness at Camden Health Improvement Practice (CHIP) to AT Medics. The new contract begins on 1 April 2020.
Continuing to meet the complex health needs of Camden’s homeless population is of the highest importance to Camden CCG. Re-commissioning a five to 15 year contract through a formal and robust tendering process secures the CHIP service for patients into the future.
This process was conducted in an open, fair and transparent way under the strict governance of public procurement regulations. Bids were evaluated by patient representatives, local commissioners and subject matter experts from across London.
AT Medics is clinically led by GPs and has extensive experience of delivering high quality NHS primary care services to patients across London, including specialist services for homeless patients. They have been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission for running a similar service.
CHIP will remain at the Margarete Centre and the specification for the NHS service – which is based on best practice from the Healthy London Partnership – includes all current CHIP services, including a linked Citizens Advice Bureau service.
