Camden Council is taking steps to temporarily evacuate residents from Chalcots Estate as the London Fire Brigade has been clear that the blocks are unsafe. Camden residents can access the latest information about the incident, and local response, on the Camden Council website and their Twitter account @camdentalking.
Re-housed Chalcots Estate residents:
- Can continue to make appointments with their usual general practice. If this is not convenient they can temporarily register with another general practice, either in Camden or outside the Borough. There is information on NHS Choices on how to do this.
- Can continue to access out-of-hours primary care services by calling NHS 111, regardless of whether they are temporarily living in another borough.
- Should contact their usual GP practice, or a community pharmacy, if they have any queries regarding their medication supplies.
- Needing to access urgent or emergency services can access walk-in centres or A&E in any borough, as per business as usual.
Health Visiting teams and School Nursing Services are able to provide health information, support and sign posting for families and can monitor any concerns. School Nurses are able to information share between health and education and follow up children’s health needs in school. Young people can see a school nurse for confidential advice and support. Camden residents’ appointments with hospital or community services in Camden will not be affected. If an individual is expecting an appointment letter, they should be aware that Royal Mail is holding all mail for the residents of the Chalcots Estate.
