New mothers in Camden will benefit from improved maternity services. The North Central London (NCL) Maternity Network has been chosen to pilot new approaches to transform local maternity services for the National Maternity Review, Better Births.
The Network, which brings together NCL commissioners, Royal Free and UCLH Trusts and new mothers, will make improvements to services over the next two years.
The aim is to provide greater continuity of care and improved postnatal care, through:
- Easier access to maternity services for women across the area
- A more personalised approach to care
- Greater emphasis on community-based maternity care, delivered by small groups of midwives within community hubs
Work will begin in December to align the project with the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) for maternity services and a detailed implementation plan will be developed. UCL Partners will run the project and monitor the effect of the changes.
