More than 40,000 Camden people have now gone online to help them access services at their GP surgery. They can book appointments 24 hours a day, seven days a week on their computer, tablet or smartphone and arrange repeat prescriptions from the comfort of their homes.
The GP Online service is being offered by 35 GP practices across the borough as part of a national initiative. Camden is placed third among the North Central London boroughs for take-up of the service with 14.6 per cent of patients registered for an online account.
The service is especially important in the winter when older people, children and those with long-term health conditions such as diabetes and heart diseases can suffer in the cold weather. By using GP Online they don’t have to trudge through the weather to the surgery to arrange a repeat prescription.
If you want to register for GP online services you will need to fill out a form at the surgery and show two forms of ID. One should have a photo (such as a UK passport or driving licence) and the other should have your address (such as a council tax bill). If you don’t have photo ID or anything with your address on it practice staff may be able to help you.
